Always - Patsy Cline at the Old Town Playhouse

Always...Patsy Cline

Arts & Culture
Thru - October 3, 2009
(Thu. Fri. Sat. )
Location: Old Town Playhouse

HEARTACHE!
Every once in a while, an artist creates an iconic style and sound that lives far beyond their life and career. Patsy Cline was one of those. Silenced far too soon in 1963 at the age of 30, the heartfelt singing of Patsy Cline is still immediately recognizable and she is as beloved today as she was 45 years ago.
Always…Patsy Cline, with its down home country humor and true emotion, traces the accidental friendship of Patsy and Louise Seger and features many of Patsy's unforgettable hits including "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams" and "Walking After Midnight"…27 songs in all!
This will be a warm and wonderful experience of music, memories and delightful stories to open the 2009-2010 OTP season.

Far away from the public eye, war rages in the regional psychiatric asylum. Wild patient behavior and abuse by medical staff have leaked to a disturbed public. With the recent transfer of R.P. McMurphy from a prison work crew, the tenuous balance maintained among the patients is spinning out of control. Head Nurse Ratched, in an effort to maintain peace, clashes directly with McMurphy, who, diagnosed as a psychopath, continually provokes both the patients and the staff. This intriguing story is sure to bring new developments - the public will continue to be advised. For tickets call the Box Office (231) 947-2443

An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They're all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale musical. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results. What begins as a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of “The Princess Bride” becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children. One of Sondheim's most popular works, this timeless yet relevant piece is a rare modern classic. Individual Tickets Go on Sale Monday, February 25 at 4 p.m.
